Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 9 October 2026

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Student OS application and related services (the “App”), operated by Dan Bokete, a sole trader based in Ireland (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. The Service

Student OS is a study tool for organising, understanding, and reviewing what you learn, including AI-assisted features. It is under active development, so we may add, change, or remove features at any time.

We provide the App on a reasonable-efforts basis. It may contain bugs, and it may be interrupted for maintenance or because of the third-party services it relies on. Where we can, we will give notice of significant planned downtime.

3. Accounts and Eligibility

You sign in with Google. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure and for activity under your account. The App is for users aged 16 and over; if you are below the age of digital consent in your country, you need a parent or guardian’s permission.

4. Plans and Payments

Plans. The App has a Free plan and a paid Pro plan. Each plan has usage allowances and a storage limit, shown on our pricing page and in the App. We may change allowances and limits at any time, with or without notice.

Billing. Pro costs €4.99 per month, including VAT where applicable. It is billed monthly in advance through Stripe and renews automatically until you cancel. If we change the price, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from Settings. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for, then move to the Free plan. Except as set out below or required by law, we do not refund partial periods.

14-day right of withdrawal. If you are a consumer, you can withdraw from a new Pro subscription within 14 days of subscribing, without giving a reason, and we will refund the full amount within 14 days of your request. This does not apply to monthly renewals. To withdraw, email support@studentos.co with a clear statement (you may use the model form in Annex I(B) of Directive 2011/83/EU, but you do not have to).

Storage limits. While your files exceed your plan’s storage limit, you cannot upload more. If you are still over the limit 30 days after a Pro subscription ends, we may delete uploaded files until you are back under it.

5. Your Content

You keep ownership of everything you create or upload (“User Content”). You give us a limited licence to host, store, and process it only to provide the App to you. You confirm that you have the right to upload it and that it does not break any law or infringe anyone’s rights. We may remove content that we reasonably believe breaches these Terms or the law.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • use the App unlawfully or in breach of these Terms;
  • access, or try to access, other users’ accounts or our systems without permission;
  • upload malware or interfere with the App;
  • reverse engineer, copy, or resell the App, or share a Pro subscription, except where the law allows; or
  • bypass usage limits, for example with multiple accounts or automated requests.

To protect the App, we may apply rate limits, restrict features, or suspend access where we reasonably suspect abuse or a threat to the App’s security or stability, even if you have allowance left. If you think we got it wrong, contact support@studentos.co for a review.

7. AI Features

Some features use third-party AI providers, and “Explain with AI” opens an assistant of your choice under its own terms. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading, so check anything you rely on. You are responsible for making sure your use of the App and any AI assistant follows your school or university’s academic integrity rules.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data and forms part of these Terms.

9. Our Intellectual Property

The App, including its software, design, and the “Student OS” name, belongs to us or our licensors. These Terms only give you the right to use the App as intended.

10. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee that it, its scheduling, analytics, or AI output are accurate or complete, or that using it leads to any academic outcome. It is a study aid, not professional or academic advice.

Keep your own backups of important content. Changes made offline are stored only on that device until they sync, and can be lost if you clear your browser data or sign out first.

11. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or your mandatory rights as a consumer. Subject to that, and to the extent permitted by law:

  • we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit, or opportunity; and
  • our total liability is limited to the greater of €100 and the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

12. Suspension and Termination

You can stop using the App at any time. To delete your account, contact support@studentos.co; this also cancels any Pro subscription. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we discontinue the App. Where reasonable, we will give you notice and a chance to export your content first.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will notify you in the App or by email, and if you have Pro you can cancel before it takes effect. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept it. Changes to prices, allowances, and limits follow section 4 instead.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by Irish law, and disputes go to the Irish courts. If you are a consumer, you keep the protections of the law where you live and may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
